Homeschool Fun

This week we were studying bats. Mother bats are able to find their baby among millions in the "nursery" mostly by sense of smell. Our experiment was to see how well we can identify a smell if we picked one smell to be our "baby".

To accomplish this we took 20 cotton balls and dipped them in different household oils, soap, toothpaste, vinegar etc. Then Sage and Rafe picked one sent to be theirs. All the cotton balls were piled together and then they took turns being blindfolded and picking up different cotton balls to smell and find theirs.

What fun we had! Some smells were rather stinky, but my little bats were able to find their baby bats!!

I'm grateful that I am blessed to be able to stay home with my kids and spend our days exploring and learning about our world.
