Well, that's life...and sometimes it stinks!

Sometimes life just reaches up and just smacks you in the face.  When it happens to your kids it just makes it all the more sad, but it's just one of those life lessons we all have to learn.

On our way home today we stopped to get the mail.  Carson jumped out to get it...which the rest of us appreciated since it is raining.  You see, next week is Carson's birthday.  He was hoping to get birthday mail.  But that's just not going to happen anymore...for him or the rest of the family.  You see, Grandmom died this past January.  Grandma's are the ones who remember birthdays and anniversary's etc. AND take the time to send a card or special present.

It was a quiet and somber drive home from the mail boxes this afternoon as this sunk in.  And you know, I don't think it was because they wanted "things".   I think it truly is because that piece of mail was a physical representation that someone beyond their immediate family was aware of them, the milestones in their lives,  and cared about them enough to take the time so send a card filled with love and good wishes.

I hope that this is a lesson that they keep with them, so that they will remember to tell their family and friends that they love them and appreciate them.  It's a lesson we all should remember.  Express your love and gratitude now.  Don't wait.  Make sure that the people you love know that you love and appreciate them.

And now I hope that as each birthday, holiday and anniversary comes up we will pause for a moment and remember fondly Grandmom Betty, just as she always remembered us.  You are missed.  You are loved.

Toodle Loo  XOXOXO
